February 9, 2009 on 12:06 pm | In aestetic plastic operation surgery |The word is synonymous with fallen ptosis .
Ptosis of upper eyelid means that the level of the upper eyelid is lower than normal, and interferes with the visual field.
Depending on the time in life that appears in this condition and the cause that produces it, then it will be the ranking. There were basically two classes of upper eyelid ptosis:
Before
After
1.-Congenital Ptosis: It is when the child is born with this condition.
2.-Acquired Ptosis: It is when the Ptosis first appears at any stage of life that is not the birth.
The Congenital Ptosis may involve one or both upper eyelids, and the cause dystrophy is a muscle lifting of the eyelid.
The Acquired Ptosis may involve one or both eyelids, depending on the cause.
Among its causes are:
a.-neurogenic: When there is a change in the Common Ocular Motor nerve, which is one that commands the elevator muscle.
b.-myogenic: It is produced by an alteration in the body’s muscle as a lift in the Mistemia Gravis.
c. fascial: It is when the Aponeurosis levator muscle, it appears totally or partially or is stretched or weakened. This can be seen very often and mainly in adult patients in one or both eyelids.
It is linked to aging or trauma. It is said that the use of contact lenses and bifocal lenses may be another probable cause of ptosis Aponeurotic.
d.-Mechanics: a tumor in the upper eyelid or excess skin of the eyelid may require that the level of the eyelid is below normal. In this case the removal of the tumor or an aesthetic blepharoplasty help this condition disappear.
Depending on the cause will be the treatment to take place.
