Obesity is a serious illness, it lasts chronic and progressive, today it is very hard to cure. But surgeons can aspire to a person who is obese

An obese person can be cured and that is normal weight or close to normal, but this does not mean that obesity has been cured. The only way of survive from obesity is to change for lifestyle, both in eating habits and physical activity. When an obese reaches the level of health threatening obesity there is a problem of very difficult solution, It normally has already demonstrated the failure  of controlled medical treatments.

In morbid obesity,

the real possibilities of an effective treatment (a significant loss of weight)  and sustainable in the medium or long term  (maintenance of weight lost at 5 years or more)  are less than 3%.

97% of obese morbid continue morbid despite being obese medical dietary treatment- (weight loss surgerydiet, medications, physical exercise psychological reinforcement, etc.).

After medical treatment dietary well-done it is possible that morbid obesity get a significant weight loss

but the rule is that it will eventually produce the recovery of weight and lost some kilos more (rebound effect).

For a morbid obesity a significant loss of weight is difficult but possible, what is truly extraordinary maintain in the medium or long term that weight loss. In the best case a few get a notable reduction of weight, weight recovered and almost certainly exceed, not being able to maintain proper eating habits and exercise (new lifestyle - healthy lifestyle).
